ISOTOPES HOME SCHEDULE RELEASED
The Albuquerque Isotopes, Triple-A partner of the Los
Angeles Dodgers, have announced their 2012 schedule,
featuring a 72-game home slate that includes 11
action-packed weekends at Isotopes Park and home games on
Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Independence Day.
The ‘Topes will actually start the 2012 PCL campaign on the
road, opening the season with a series in Omaha starting on
the Pacific Coast League’s Opening Day on April 5 and a
series in Iowa before returning for the home opener against
the defending PCL Champion Storm Chasers on Friday, April
13.
Opening Night at Isotopes Park kicks off an eight-game
homestand that also features a series with the I-Cubs. In
2011, a team-record 16,059 fans attended the Isotopes’ July
4th celebration and Isotopes Park will once again be the
place to spend Independence Day with the ‘Topes taking on
the rival Round Rock Express.
Albuquerque is also home for Memorial Day (May 28) and will
wrap up the season with a home game on Labor Day (Sept. 3).
In addition to the full slate of American Conference foes,
the Isotopes will also welcome Pacific Conference opponents
that haven’t traveled to Albuquerque since 2010. Sacramento,
Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s, and Fresno, top
affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, will visit The Lab in
late May, while the month of August will start with series
against regional rivals Las Vegas, Triple-A affiliate of the
Toronto Blue Jays, and Tucson, Triple-A affiliate of the San
Diego Padres. Specific promotions will be announced at a
later date, but already locked into the schedule are 11
fireworks nights.

AGGIES HANDLE LOBOS FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN IN
RIVALRY
Matt Christian had a field day
Saturday The quarterback for New
Mexico State threw four touchdowns
and added another score on the
ground while leading the Aggies to a
42-28 victory over in-state rival
New Mexico at University Stadium. It
.was the thrid straight win for the
Aggies in the I25 Rivalry
Christian threw for 296 yards for
NMSU (2-3), and added another 101
yards on 15 carries. However, it was
Kenny Turner who led the team on the
ground, as the back rumbled for 109
yards on 24 carries.
As for the Lobos (0-5), they were
unable to get George Barlow a win in
his first game as the team's head
coach. Barlow took over for Mike
Locksley who was let go by the
program on September 25th. The Lobos
were paced by B.R. Holbrook, who
threw for 265 yards. The quarterback
tossed one touchdown and was also
intercepted once. Crusoe Gongbay
only finished with 54 rushing yards,
but found the end zone twice.
The Aggies struck early and often
in this matchup, scoring 21 straight
first quarter points. All three
touchdowns came from the arm of
Christian, who connected with Todd
Lee, Austin Franklin and Kemonte
Bateman for scores of 22, 50 and 25
yards, respectively.

Albuquerque's Hector Munoz was halted in the 6th round last
night in Las Vegas. Undefeated Yoshihiro Kamegai
(19-0) dominaed Munoz, who took the fight on 4 days notice
most of the fight until referee Tony Weeks halted the
action.
Munoz who has now dropped 3 in a row must now think hard
about continuing his career, with him taking fights for pay
days and not having a shot to win.

“I definitely didn’t want that
to happen again,” laughed Holm after she was
reminded about her first MMA outing in which she
backed off her fallen opponent after knocking her
down, forgetting that she was not in a boxing match.
