TOPES POUND CUBS I FINAL HOME GAME OF YEAR
The Albuquerque Isotopes (70-69) avoided their first
sweep of the 2010 season by pounding the Iowa Cubs (80-60) 13-3 Thursday night
at Isotopes Park, treating the fans present for the final regular season game at
The Lab to a crucial ‘Topes triumph. With four games to play, Albuquerque is now
just two games behind Oklahoma City in the PCL’s American Southern Division.
The win capped another successful home schedule for the Isotopes, who drew
13,002 fans to Thursday night’s contest, giving Albuquerque a total attendance
for the season of 571,100 and an average of 8,159, third highest in the Pacific
Coast League.
Albuquerque will now hit the road for four games in Round Rock to end the 2010
regular season. Right-hander John Ely (5-3, 5.93) will take the mound for the
‘Topes against Express righty Shane Loux (5-12, 5.73) in a 6:05 PM MT start from
Dell Diamond. Check out www.albuquerquebaseball.com for the all the
up-to-the-minute playoff news as the ‘Topes make a run at back-to-back PCL
American Southern Division titles.
SECONDSOUT TEAM FANTASY SUPERFIGHT PRYOR VS TZSYU
It
is boxing world champion great versus world champion great, one a
punching machine in perpetual motion, the other with a right hand
containing irresistible knockout power, but that hasn’t stopped
SecondsOut’s team of fearless writers from making their confident picks
for a super lightweight super fight between Aaron Pryor and Kostya Tszyu
over twelve rounds at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, USA. “Kostya Tszyu had issues with
a fighter who throws slot of punches in Ricky Hatton, although Tszyu was
past prime that style frustrated him. Pryor was a whirlwind and that
style would give Tszyu a hard time. Tszyu hit like a mule and we know
Pryor would be open to early knockdowns but would get up a go after his
prey. If Tszyu were to hurt Pryor and follow up he’d have a chance to
stop him. I believe Pryor would weather the storm and keep pressure on
Tszyu finally halting him in the 10th.
It’s Hawk Time. Pryor W.TKO.10.”

RABBIT PUNCH Hernandez turns tail and comes to fight,
outclasses Cisneros; Boxing returns to Santa Ana
After denying New Mexico boxing
fans an opportunity to see two of the better female boxers in the world
get it on by dashing out of Isleta Casino, now Hard Rock, last December,
Melissa "Huracan" Hernandez decided to stick around and fight this time
around.
And fight, she did, against the
taller hometown favorite Victoria "Reyna de Guerra" Cisneros.
Victoria “La Reyna de
Guerra” Cisneros has not had an easy
career.
With a
less-than-impressive record of 5-9-2, 1
KO, Cisneros has fought almost all of
her fights on the road. She went winless
for more than five years and, in her
most important fight, against Holly Holm
last December, was given approximately
20 minutes to prepare.
She lost, of
course, going the distance, but that was
the fight that has defined Cisneros,
making her the second most popular
female fighter in her home state of New
Mexico . . .

for the second straight home start, did not walk a single batter.

It was a quick fight , but not not the ending Holly Holm wanted. as she
got credit for a 1st round tko over Jamie Clampitt Friday night at The
Hard Rock Casino & Resort in Albuquerque, NM (USA), in a IBA Jr.
welterweight title fight.
After a slow first round with both Holm and Clampitt feeling each other
out; Holm able to land a few straight left hands to the head of Clampitt;
Clampitt much shorter then Holm tried to land lead rights but came up
short. As the round neared, Holm came in with her right leg, at the same
time Clampitt bent over, the two clashed with Clampitt collapsing to the
canvas and dislocating her right shoulder in the process.

FIGHT DURAN VS PACQUIAO
One is a Hall of Fame great who was one of the greatest lightweights of
all time, the second is a future Hall of Famer and the brightest boxing
star today, both winning world titles in multiple weight classes, but
that hasn’t stopped SecondsOut’s team of fearless writers from making
their confident picks for a twelve round welterweight boxing match
between Roberto Duran and Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas,
USA.
The Roberto Duran who beat Sugar Ray Leonard in 1980 was at his best at
welterweight that night. The Manny Pacquiao who beat Oscar De La Hoya
was possibly the best he has been at 147. Here there won’t be any catch
weights just 147 for both. That plays in el cholo’s favor as he
will be strong for Pac-Man. Speed is one of Pacquiao’s strengths
in landing his powerful lefts but the best Duran beat a faster fighter
in Leonard. Duran the one of the best intimidators in boxing history, to
the point he got into Leonard’s head, something Leonard was the master
at. Duran also would be able to take Manny’s shots as he had one of
boxing best chins, he also was vicious body puncher which as we know
Pacquiao early defeats were at the hands of body shots. Duran would
withstand Pacquiao’s shots and wear him down with left hooks to the body
and right hands, getting into Pacquiao’s mind when Pac-Man isn’t
able to hurt him. The Hands of Stone will halt Pacquiao in the 10
round as he will show the true meaning of machismo. Ray Leonard said
after their first fight, He almost had me quit boxing after he beat
my body to death. That’s how Great Duran was! Duran W.TKO.10.”

SUPER FIGHT SUGAR RAY LEONARD VS FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.
Forget about tense negotiations for a superfight in
November 2010. SecondsOut is going straight to a battle of epic
proportions. It is world champion boxer versus world champion boxer and
a legend of the 1980’s up against a superstar of the 2000’s, but that
hasn’t stopped SecondsOut’s team of fearless writers from making their
confident picks for a twelve round welterweight boxing match between
Sugar Ray Leonard and Floyd Mayweather Jr at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas,
USA.
“This is a true super-fight! The best. Ray Leonard was the Leonard from
when he beat Duran to when he defeated Thomas Hearns, that Leonard was
fast, powerful and had guts to will him to win. This is a fighter Floyd
would not want to face, yes Floyd has looked great recently but he will
be facing a fighter who is a natural welterweight not coming down or up
in weight. Floyd would finally fight someone with speed just as fast or
faster, I don’t think he could handle Leonard’s hand or foot speed, he
wouldn’t be able to use his counter attack here and have to fight,
that’s where Leonard’s skills will take over and win a unanimous
decision. Leonard W.12.”

SPLIT WITH REDBIRDS
In his fourth start of the season, Alberto
Bastardo pushed the Albuquerque Isotopes (39-38) back over the .500 mark
with a stellar pitching performance that propelled the ‘Topes to a 6-4
win over the Memphis Redbirds (42-37) Tuesday afternoon at Isotopes
Park. The triumph, Albuquerque’s second in a row over the ‘Birds, helps
the Isotopes salvage a four-game series split against Memphis.
Over a season-high 7.1 innings, Bastardo (3-0) gave up eight hits and
allowed only two unearned runs while walking one and striking out one en
route to his third straight win. Not only was the left-hander effective,
he was efficient, tossing a total of 83 pitches, 56 of which went for
strikes.
After the ‘Topes’ much-deserved day off on Wednesday, they will resume
their homestand with three games over Independence Day weekend with the
Oklahoma City RedHawks, highlighted by back-to-back fireworks shows on

TEAM PREDICTS WARD/GREEN WINNER
The new champion will be looking to put on a starring

tournament entry will be looking to put his name in history with a

writers from making their confident picks for Saturday’s WBA super
middleweight world title boxing match between Andre Ward and Allan Green
at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, televised in the USA on
Showtime.
"Ward shocked us with his great performance over Kessler. He showed he
is a top rate fighter and dominated in the way Kessler had no answer to
Wards attack. I see Green having a shot with him being a hard puncher
but can’t see Ward being set enough to get caught. Ward will control the
fight with his jab and quick flurries, keeping Green honest, he will
continue his march in the Super Six with a unanimous decision
win. Ward W.12.”

ETHERTON EXCELLENT IN WIN
Starting pitcher Seth Etherton turned in a fourth
straight quality start to help lead the Albuquerque Isotopes (32-28) to
an 8-3 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (33-28) Saturday night at
Bricktown Ballpark. With the win, Albuquerque’s second in a row in Okie
City, the ‘Topes have climbed within just a half game of the
division-leading RedHawks.
Etherton (2-0) cruised through six strong innings of work, allowing just
two runs on four hits while walking two and striking out seven to claim
his second win of the season. The right-hander tossed a season-high 107
pitches on the night, 71 for strikes.
The Isotopes will look for a third straight victory and a series win on
Sunday with the help of right-hander Vicente Padilla (0-0 No ERA), who
will be making a Major League rehabilitation assignment for the ‘Topes
against Oklahoma City righty Tanner Scheppers (1-0, 1.89). First pitch

CONDIT
WINS IN THE NICK OF TIME
After receiving a tongue lashing from Trainer Greg

victory over Rory MacDonald Saturday at UFC 115, getting beaten through
the first and second rounds only to brutalize MacDonald in the third and
win by technical knockout with just seven seconds left in the fight.
All accounts had McDonald winning the first two rounds over Condit, but
Condit was able to press the action and pull off the last second win.,
raising his record to 24-5 , while McDonald falls for the first time at
10-1
SECONDSOUT
TEAM PREDICTIONS FOR COTTO/FOREMAN
The world champion is moving up to a new level of
class while the former world champion challenger is moving up in weight,
but that hasn’t stopped SecondsOut’s team of fearless writers from
making their confident picks for Saturday’s WBA junior middleweight
world title match between belt holder Yuri Foreman and Miguel Cotto
outdoors at Yankee Stadium in New York, televised in the USA on HBO.
“This fight can go a few ways, with Foreman being a good boxer and using
his height and reach to keep Cotto at distance, he could score a points
win, but with Emmanuel Stewart working the corner of Cotto now he could
devise a plan to get inside and rough up Foreman. I believe the latter
with Cotto wearing down Foreman and winning his third title in three
divisions. There is a reason Foreman was chosen to fight Cotto, not
having much power is mainly the reason for Foreman being Cotto’s
comeback fight especially after his war with Pacquiao. Cotto will win in
front of a huge crowd at Yankee Stadium and get back on track. Cotto
W.TKO.10.”

In front of an estimated crowd of 1555-1700 fans, competitors
from ages 18 -60 strutted their stuff in the 2nd annual Fitness New Mexico at
the new Hard Rock Casino & Resort.
It was defiantly something we had never covered in our time involved in sports,
but I can honestly say I have a lot more respect for the hard work and
dedication that the competitors put into the event.
One contestant was 43 years old and is a mother of 7, but you would have never
believed it by her shape. Another fitness contest was 60 years young and dazzled
the crowd with her fitness performance.
The training, dieting and elegance was something that you have to see first
hand, if you weren't there you missed a great event and its a must see in the
future.
We will have full contest results later but enjoy the Photos taken by Tom
Hernandez at he the event.
When covering the past boxing events at Hard Rock Casino & Resort
(formerly Isleta Casino) there has been a new presence entertainment
department, mainly the new Ring girls, when doing more research we came
to learn that thr gorgeous women were also fitness model/competitors as
well as personal trainers and family orientated.
The group directed by Cristin Kiburz was also promoting this weekends
Fitness New Mexico Contest at the Hard Rock Ballroom, in its second year
the event is also bang promoted by Kiburz and her husband John,
Last years event had over 65 committers and over 1000 in attendance,
this year 150 competitors and attendance is to be closer to 2000,
in what should bring NM best fit men and women

You might say Victoria Cisneros has been in the right place at the right time
recently. This past December Cisneros was attending the wworld title fight
between Champion Holly Holm and Melissa Hernandez, but Hernandez pulled out of
the fight prior to the fight happening, leaving promoter Lenny Fresquez
scrambling to find an opponent, lucky for him Cisneros was there and in
shape having been in training for a fight that fell through.

ARCHIE RAY MARQUEZ WIFE SPEAKS ON ABUSE Jamie Marquez, wife of Archir Ray Marquez
spoke with NewMeixcoSportsNews.com this evening in reference to her husband
recent arrest and history of abuse. Marquez was arrested this past Thursday for
aggravated battery against a household member and Interference with
communications.
Jamie Marquez has stated the violence has been going on for years and that she
wants people to know how the real Archie is. "Archie was arrested to on February
1st after his fight at Tingley, there was video of it from when it occurred in
the elevator, but it has since disappeared." says Jamie.
"He wears t-shirts that are against domestic violence but he is the one who does
it and that needs to be said. I'm in the stages of getting a divorce and suing
Sandia for "losing" the video and whoever else who is involved in its
disappearance."
Jamie does say Marquez is a good father but when it comes to women he has not
respect. "He was always saying he had to go see his sponsors and would come how
late, only to find out he was talking and texting other women, I hope he gets
help because its not right for what he does and his people hide it from the
public and media."
Thursday we received a press release from Marquez manager Jacob Maes stating
that it was an injury sustained during training for Marquez proposed bout May
14th, but since this has surfaced no response has been issued.
HEYMAN
SAYS HE BROKE HAND IN LOSS
ALDERETE REPLIES According to reports Max Heyman is
stating he broke his left hand at the end of the first round in
his loss to Mike Alderete Friday night at Isleta Casino & Resort.
Mike Alderete has responded to the claim by Heyman, "If he did break his
hand he never once said anything to the Rick Write of the Journal, nor
the internet sites, I just think its another excuse to him losing." says
Alderete
"He said before the fight I had no skill and he keeps saying I'm not
that good, then he said after the fight he hit a wall and got tired, if
I would have lost I wouldn't be making excuses like he is. It boils down
to that I had a bigger heart and he and his camp underestimated me
period. If I'm not that good what does that say about him?"
When asked if he would rematch with Heyman, Alderete replied, sure but
on my terms.
"I'll fight him at 175 this time, but I'm sure he will make another
excuse like he does all the time he can never say he lost, he cried when
Lee Montoya beat him and now another "low life cholo" beat him. They
tried to turn this into a racial thing but for me being a low life
according to them, I know how to lose and win with class, that's
obviously something he doesn't have."
